Dueling Grounds – March 14, 2013

Dueling Grounds LogoDueling Grounds returns this week with Brian at the helm.  This week, we’re starting the push toward level 12 with our first batch of locals heading for the retirement arc – but if you’re not up there in the levels, don’t let that make you nervous.  We’ve got lots of tables for everyone, including the start of a brand-new “module.”  Michael’s got a treat in store for you mid-levels, but to see what it is, you’ll have to read on…

Prisoner of Skull Hill CoverOur first table will be the first part of the Echoes of the Everwar series, which is 4 scenarios in total.  The Prisoner of Skull Hill is tier 7-11 and we anticipate it running at the higher tier under Eric‘s watchful eye.  A Chelish outpost deep inside the anarchic orc-controlled Hold of Belkzen has gone silent after strange fires were seen burning in the skies above. You have been sent north to investigate the disappearance and find a lost tomb long rumored to exist beneath the outpost’s timber tower. When you arrive and find the place choked with monsters and hideous plant creatures from beyond the stars, your mission of exploration quickly turns to one of survival.   Click here to reserve a spot at Eric’s table.

The Beggar's Pearl CoverAt our second table, Adam returns to Season One with a classic dungeon crawl called The Beggar’s Pearl at tier 1-5, with sub-tier by demand.  When a thief arrives at the Pathfinder Lodge in Almas bearing stolen artifacts and writings pointing the way to a lost dwarven gallery, you are sent into the rugged Aspodell Mountains to find the famed dwarven explorer last known to be searching for the gallery as well as the gallery itself. Once there you find a tangled web of darklands creatures in the thrall of a charismatic cult leader with ties to the darkest shadows of the First Realm.  Click here to reserve a spot at Adam’s table.

Master of the Fallen Fortress CoverAt the third table, Wolf will make his GM debut with the Tier 1 Dungeon Crawl Master of the Fallen Fortress. The ruined siege castles outside Absalom have long beckoned adventurers looking to make a name for themselves. Now an earthquake has cracked open one of these fabled ruins, and its lost mysteries and fantastic treasures lie exposed for the first time in centuries. But the tower’s empty halls once more echo with living footfalls, and a new master has claimed the Fallen Fortress as his own. Can the PCs find a way to get inside its shattered walls? What ancient dangers and fresh threats will they encounter inside its crumbling chambers? And will the PCs be able to defeat the current Master of the Fallen Fortress?  Please note that this module is only available to level 1 characters.  Click here to reserve a spot at Wolf’s table.

Rise of the Runelords CoverFinally, Michael returns to the GM chair when he offers the first part of the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path – Burnt Offerings.  Parts of this Adventure Path has now been sanctioned for PFS play, and this part is appropriate for characters of levels 3-5.  Please note that this is like a module in that you must commit to the next three weeks in order to receive full XP and gold for participating.  The Thistletop Goblins are unusually aggressive these days, and even after their raid on the town of Sandpoint was turned back, the threat of future assaults continues to loom.  What forces are stirring them up?  Is it just a charismatic goblin chieftain or is something more sinister at work?    Click here to reserve a spot at Michael’s table.

The action starts promptly at 6:30 pm.  All are welcome, from the newest player to the most experienced. We’d love to see you!  Don’t forget to reserve a spot to make sure you get to play!

I would ask those visiting Skull Hill to provide your Class, Level, Race and any Archetypes that you will be bringing before the game.

Just a reminder that Rise of the Runelords will be beginning between 6:45 – 7:00 due to my work hours.

Also, Burnt Offerings has the potential to be a bit… MURDEROUS. Please stock up on supplies, and remember that running away is sometimes a solid option in Pathfinder Society.
